Agent access
Let agents and your own programs find and install Skills and MCP servers from this site, and read the docs.
funcoding-cli
A command line for AI coding agents: find and install Skills, configure MCP servers, sync favorites and read docs. You ask, your agent runs it.
Send this to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor:
Run npx --yes funcoding-cli@latest cli setup and sign in, then find and install a Skill for working with PDFs.
Or run it yourself in a terminal (Node.js 18.17 or later):
npx --yes funcoding-cli@latest cli setup funcoding auth login
Once installed, the command is funcoding, or fun for short.
You:Find a Skill for working with PDFs and install it.
funcoding skills find pdf --json
{ "ok": true, "skills": [{ "id": "anthropics/skills/pdf", "stars": 180156, … }, …] }
funcoding skills info anthropics/skills/pdf --json
{ "ok": true, "skill": { "files": [12], "scripts": [8], "content": "---\nname: pdf …" } }
Agent:I suggest anthropics/skills/pdf (180k stars). It reads, merges and splits PDFs and fills in forms. It includes 8 Python scripts that run on your machine when used. Install it for Claude Code?
You:Yes, install it.
funcoding skills add anthropics/skills/pdf --json
{ "ok": true, "installed": [{ "dir": "~/.claude/skills/pdf", "files": 12 }] }
Agent:Installed to ~/.claude/skills/pdf. Start a new session and type /pdf to use it.
For agents
cli setup teaches your agents when and how to use the funcoding command. Sign in to use the site’s API.
Install the funcoding command globally
Upgrades an older version if one is installed. You and your agents can then run funcoding directly.
Skip this step:
--no-globalAdd the funcoding-cli Skill to your agents
The Skill is a short guide: which commands exist, when to use them, and to review and ask before installing anything. It is what lets your agent call funcoding on its own. It goes into the user folder of each agent found on this machine, such as ~/.claude/skills/funcoding-cli/.
Skip this step:
--no-agent-skillsSign in to funcoding.ai
The site’s API needs authorization. The command opens your browser; click “Allow” on the page. Without a browser (CI, remote containers), create an API key in your account and set it as FUNCODING_API_KEY.
funcoding auth login
cli upgrade also refreshes the installed Skill.
Add only the Skill, without the global command (your agent will run it with npx):
npx skills add https://funcoding.ai
Commands
Add --help to any command to see how to use it.
funcoding can be shortened to fun, for example:fun skills find pdf

Conventions
Commands never stop to ask questions. Confirm actions with flags such as --force.
- --json
- stdout prints a single JSON object: { "ok": true, … } on success, or { "ok": false, "error": { "code", "message", "hint" } } on failure, where hint is the next command to run.
- --agent
- Which agent to install for: claude-code, codex or cursor, comma-separated for several, or all for every agent detected on this machine. Defaults to claude-code, so set it explicitly in Codex or Cursor.
- --project
- Install into the current project so it can be committed and shared with your team. Without it, installs go to your user directory and apply to every project.
Install locations
Locations come from each agent’s official docs, which remain the source of truth.
| --agent | Skill | MCP |
|---|---|---|
| claude-code | ~/.claude/skills/ .claude/skills/ | claude mcp add-json --scope user .mcp.json |
| codex | ~/.agents/skills/ .agents/skills/ | ~/.codex/config.toml .codex/config.toml |
| cursor | ~/.cursor/skills/ .cursor/skills/ | ~/.cursor/mcp.json .cursor/mcp.json |
The first line is the user directory; the second is the current project (--project).
Security
- A Skill acts on the instructions in its SKILL.md and may run the scripts it contains. The funcoding-cli Skill tells the agent to review a Skill with skills info and get your approval before installing it.
- funcoding-cli only downloads files from the Skill’s own directory on GitHub and rejects any path outside the target directory. Each Skill is limited to 200 files and 10 MB.
- Before overwriting or removing a Skill, or changing an MCP config, the original is backed up to the CLI config directory (~/.config/funcoding/ on macOS and Linux, %APPDATA%\funcoding on Windows).
- Keys required by MCP servers are passed as command arguments and written only to the agent’s config file; they are never sent to the site.
- Your sign-in is stored in credentials.json in the CLI config directory, readable only by you. Each account can make up to 60 requests per minute and 3000 per day.
